Apple fans say humanity is 'cooked' due to new iPhone Duo feature

The imminent release of Apple's iPhone Duo has got some people very worried about humanity's future.

On Friday, 23 October, the tech company will be delivering its first-ever flip phone to the masses, with pre-orders set to go ahead the week before.

In its fully collapsed state, the Duo is the thinnest of all the iPhone generations, boasting a 7.6-inch display — shrinking to 5.4 inches when closed.

Yet for some customers, the feature that allows you to open two applications side-by-side can only mean doom for us all.

'Doom' being the preferred word here, as of course this will inevitably lead to double doomscrolling.

"We are so cooked," read one tweet accompanying a clip of the phone's twin screen capability.

"Doomscroll reached its final level," concurred somebody else, while a third X user wrote: "They telling use to get off the phones & internet, apple said nah go deeper."

Bigging up the newly launched product this week, Apple CEO John Ternus said in a statement: "iPhone Duo is the most transformational change to iPhone since the original.

"With an entirely new design and intuitive experiences, it shows what's possible when hardware and software are engineered together and redefines what it means to use a foldable phone.

"With the largest display ever on iPhone that still fits easily in your pocket, combined with the power of A20 Pro, iPhone Duo helps you stay more immersed and productive wherever you go, whether you're enjoying content, multitasking across apps, or gaming."

Another aspect of Apple's arsenal of tech which seems to be disturbing fans is its 'Audio Intelligence' creation.

Scheduled to be rolled out with the Apple Watch Series 12 at a later date, this promises to provide 'advanced health and fitness feature' and might just come from the world of Black Mirror.

Apple describes Audio Intelligence as a way to 'help users stay aware of the world around them, catch what they missed, and remember key moments - with user control, privacy, security, and accessibility at the centre of its design'.

Just like the older versions, the next Apple Watch has a built-in microphone, but Series 12's will be put to work a lot more than past models.

This new generation of timepieces will be able to alert users who are deaf or hard of hearing of important sounds, such as sirens, alarms, doorbells, or a baby crying, by using on-device intelligence to notify users when they're detected.

Pretty damn cool.
