Open AI has introduced its latest model which it says is the ‘world’s most intelligent and aligned’: GPT-6 Astra.
Rolling out from Friday, 4 September to a limited set of organisations, the tech company says it is ‘state-of-the-art on computer use, browsing, software engineering, cybersecurity, science, and professional work’. It comes the day after a huge AI outage at the company that also saw Grok, Anthropic, and Google Gemini experience down periods
But people simply fear the new mind-blowing model will ‘destroy every job on earth’. As the ad for the model does the rounds on social media, Open AI simply says: “Anything you can do on a computer, Astra can do for you. Fast.”
Leaders have marked it as the welcome to the ‘AGI era’ and the ad essentially sees people telling the model to do anything for them – from drawing rockets and creating a game to putting together presentations and booking tennis courts.

One woman talks the model through putting a table on eBay, telling it where to find the pictures from and how to describe it.
While another guy is asking it to create a game for him to play while also ordering him some food to eat while he’s at it.
And some users have commented with memes of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and J.A.R.V.I.S to say: “We're actually getting jarvis,”
But others replied with the bitter sting: “No you're actually on your way to being jobless in 30 years.”
Others say the new model will ‘destroy jobs’ but it’s also argued that it will ‘create many more we don’t know about’.
Another shared an Anne Hathaway video camera meme as they quoted: “Sorry but we’re withdrawing the job offer. We’ve decided to move forward with GPT-6 instead”
“Amazing. We’re getting dangerously close to building machines that can do everything humans do, while having no idea what humans are for anymore,” one user joked.
While some say it’s simply just making people ‘lazier’.
Taking to X following the announcements, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote: “GPT-6 Astra is here. We hope it will begin to enable a new generation of entrepreneurship, scientific discovery, and building.
“We believe it is the best model in the world for computer use, professional work, science, coding, cybersecurity, and more. It took us some extra time to ensure that we could meet the safety and alignment standards required for this capability level, but we think you’ll find it worth the wait.
“It scores 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on ARC-AGI 3, and 100% on ExploitBench.”
