Get excited by the sun. Complain it’s too hot. Put suncream on. Make bank holiday plans. Sit in the beer garden. Complain it’s too hot. Sit in another beer garden. Talk about how hot it is.
It’s that annual Brits in a heatwave cycle and with it actually lining up with the bank holiday this weekend, naturally we’re all looking for somewhere to escape to.
Ideally, a beach with water you can actually swim in.

The Blue Flag and Seaside Awards were recently revealed, recognising the cleanest, safest and most environmentally well-managed beaches.
A total of 126 beaches have been named this year, including a number of spots across the UK and the popular Bournemouth Beach.

I know, I know, that’s the area well known for students, hen dos and stag parties.
But it’s also pretty popular for swimming and sunbathing, said to have one of the warmest and most swimmable coastlines in the country. It's tipped as having gorgeous turquoise waters and soft sand.
There’s the bustling promenade, the scenic footpath, arcades, enough ice cream to go around and well, just everything you could want at the British seaside to be honest.
It is worth noticing that it can get very busy during heatwave days but the further you walk along, the quieter areas will become.
Keep Britain Tidy did actually award the Blue Flag status to six beaches in the area, including Sandbanks, Highcliffe Beach and Canford Cliffs (as reported by Conde Nast Traveller).

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council praised its seafront teams as a councillor said: “While awards are important recognition, what matters most is the quality of the experience on our beaches, which we are committed to maintaining across all locations.
"I'd like to thank all of our stakeholders and partners that help maintain our coastline, and particularly the sponsors of the flags and awards that allow us to continue to showcase the work.
"We will continue to work with partners to ensure our coastline remains one of the best in the country."

If Bournemouth on the south coast sounds like too much of a trek for you, other beaches named among the best include Southend in Essex, West Wittering Beach in Sussex, Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear and Sea Palling Beach in Norfolk.
There’s also Tynemouth Longsands in Northumberland, Botany Bay in Kent, Porthmeor Beach in Cornwall and Woolacombe Beach in Devon.
