Situated on the Vltava River is the Czech capital of Prague, a city steeped in culture, history and beautiful architecture.
Known for its sights such as Charles Bridge, the location of this famous Depeche Mode photo, and streets that make you feel like you're in a fairytale, as well as countless castles, cathedrals, and the famous astronomical clock, this Central European city looks beautiful even on the rainiest of days.

It's also possible to head out on various day trips from Prague, with Kutná Hora, Český Krumlov, Karlštejn Castle, and spa town Karlovy Vary all within a couple of hours of the capital.

Is it cheap to visit Prague?
But if you're not interested in a cultural holiday, you'll be glad to know that Prague is also very famous for its beer.
Often referred to as the city where beer is cheaper than water, tourists can expect to pay as little as £2.32 for a 0.5 litre (equivalent to just under a pint) glass of beer.
When you compare that to the average price of a pint in the UK being £5.50, rising to as much as a tenner for certain craft beers in major cities, you can see why Prague has a reputation as a stag-do hotspot for Brits.
Beer isn't the only place you'll save money, either, with travel site Hoppa giving Prague a score of 8.07 out of 10 for its budget-friendliness.
The site notes that the average cost of an inexpensive meal is roughly £8.58, while a three-star hotel costs an average of £86.96. However, this will of course increase in price if you travel during peak season or decide to splash out on more luxurious accommodation.
A transfer from Prague's Václav Havel Airport costs around £22.61, however it is possible to take public transport for a significantly lower price.

Thinking of heading to Prague later this summer or saving it for a long weekend in Autumn? You can book reasonably priced flights on Expedia and accommodation via Booking.com.
What is the weather like in Prague?
Like pretty much everywhere in Europe, Prague reaches its hottest during July and August, with a forecast from the Met Office showing highs of between 31°C and 21°C at the time of writing.
The winter months are considerably cooler, with snowfall between the months of November and March being a possibility. However, the city does have annual Christmas markets running in Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square for anyone willing to brave the cold.

Anything else?
Given the city's very cheap pints and vibrant nightlife, Prague has a reputation for stag dos.
This has led to the city working to clean up its image in recent years, cracking down on raucous pub crawls and even exploring a possible ban on fancy dress costumes.
So if you do head off to Prague, best be mindful of getting too drunk and living up to the 'Brits Abroad' stereotype.
