Travelling is something we all dream of when we're stuck at our work desks but it's not always easy to make things affordable.
Spontaneous trips to Europe might not look like they do in the movies when we're heading there on a £20 Ryanair flight in the depths of December but they do save us a lot of money.
Travel can be an expensive business, especially considering the way in which the price of fuel is going recently, although things might be improving now that Iran and the US have reportedly reached an agreement to end the war.
However, hidden fees are often things that can catch us out while travelling, whether it's via the language barrier in surroundings you're not familiar with, or even before you've managed to leave the airport.

Most of us travellers are usually just worried about making sure that our rucksack or tiny suitcase fits in the little box that Ryanair provide us with before the flight, so that we can avoid those pesky fines, it seems as if we're also going to have to think about how heavy those bags are.

Popular travel content creator Disney David was certainly left shocked when he and his wife's cabin bag was deemed to be 3kg too heavy ahead of a Virgin Atlantic flight to Orlando from Heathrow Airport.
Although certain airlines might not hesitate to issue an expensive fine at this point, David was permitted to move things around to ensure it was below the 10kg maximum, even if he did admit to later sneaking those things back in.
But for less fortunate travellers, you might end up paying a fine which is even larger than the fee to check a bag in, while also losing your access to the cabin bag, which could be moved into the hold if you are unable to redistribute the weight. Going on that long-haul flight without your puzzles, book or Nintendo DS sounds even more hellish than the fine to be honest.
In the video caption, David wrote: "Virgin Atlantic weighed our cabin bag at check‑in — and I wasn’t ready for it. For the first time in all my years of travelling, staff asked to weigh our carry‑on right at the desk. It’s a reminder that airlines do spot checks, especially on busy flights, and assumptions about allowances can lead to surprises."
So, while you might have been caught out by the size and shape of your cabin bag in the past, it seems as if you might also have to be a little more careful about how much you're squeezing inside that bag, unless you want to get your holiday off to arguably the worst possible start.
