6ft 9 woman married to 5ft 4 man opens up about impact criticism of relationship has had on life

A woman who is 6ft 9in has opened up about how people judge the fact that she has a 5ft 4in husband.

Elisane da Cruz Silva, a content creator from Brazil, said her mum is only 5ft 4in and her dad is just 5ft 7in.

So it turns out that her height is due to gigantism, a health condition caused by a tumour on the pituitary gland.

This leads to excess growth hormone production, resulting in abnormal height, enlarged features, and accelerated growth.

Two years after she met Francinaldo Da Silva Carvalho at work in Salinópolis, the loved-up couple decided to tie the knot.

"Yes, but I fell in love. She did too!" Francinaldo told Truly in March 2021.

"She is a beautiful person. She is tall but so pretty, with a beautiful face."

After suffering from a heartbreaking miscarriage, the pair were able to give birth to their first child.

"There are many people who stay together because of the children. We are together because we like each other. We like the family we are building," the mum explained.

Throughout their relationship, however, Elisane said she has suffered from a lot of judgement, not only from the public, but even her family.

"When we go out in public, we can see people smirking, looking at us," she explained.

"Even if they don't say anything, you can tell they are judging us.

"The prejudice of some people used to be too much.

"I suffered a lot, and had depression.

"So if they say anything now, I don't pay attention anymore.

"I just ignore them. I don't like to think about it."

Commenting on the pair's relationship, one viewer revealed: "I'm a girl and 186cm, and my boyfriend is 170cm. Sometimes we get odd looks, but we don't care, we love each other."

While a second added: "My husband and I have been married for 12 years. I'm 6'1" and my husband is 5'9". We couldn't be any happier and we have two beautiful daughters!"

A third person also said: "Dang, she is a gorgeous woman. People can be so rude and ignorant.

"These two are happy together and you can tell they truly love each other. That's all that matters, who cares how tall someone is?"
