The sex you see depicted by the adult industry is quite far removed from the actual thing, but you might not have known the lengths some performers have gone to put on a show.
People can get all sorts of wrong ideas about sex from watching porn and adult industry stars have been talking about one of the things male porn stars have been doing.
While the porn you watch might only last a few minutes, filming it can take much longer, and male performers have to find a way to stay hard for the shoot.
Adult star Lena Paul told Holly Randall Unfiltered that many male performers used to use drugs to maintain an erection, saying guys 'were injecting their d***s' with something called Caverject that she called 'the steroids of porn'.

The drug works like Viagra, but as Paul said 'you're putting an expiration date on your penis' as there's only so much of the stuff you can inject into your gentleman's regions before it stops working.

For male performers who either can't or don't want to inject their third leg with drugs, the option of penile implant surgery is on the table.
Fellow adult star Abella Danger told KFC Radio it was an industry secret that 'many guys in porn have mechanical d***s', with her explaining to the podcast hosts that a button could be pressed to inflate or deflate the genitals.
They help a man keep sustained erections, though of course if things go wrong with the implant it's just about the worst place in a man's body for a painful malfunction to occur.

Paul said she knew a 31-year-old man who had reached the end of the road with the drugs and got an implant where a man got 'two balloons that have replaced the function of those two big veins in your d**k'.
She said she thought there was 'something sad' about the penile implant because it meant the man could now only get an erection by pressing the button instead of through normal means.

The adult star said getting one would 'permanently change the course of your sex life' and said that one of the reasons why a growing number of male performers were getting them was because they were more likely to get work in the industry.
She explained that a man who could get hard and stay hard at the push of a button that didn't need any injections was more likely to be hired for porn shoots.
