His death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' with detectives now examining what happened.

James' dad Alan has now issued a heartbreaking post on social media saying the family are 'numb and utterly devastated'.

"Thank you to everyone for all your help searching for our son James and for all the kind thoughts and words of support as we come to terms with what has happened," he wrote.

"We are numb and utterly devastated to know he won’t be here. He was an incredible human, beautiful person, compassionate, empathetic and boy did he do things his way, and we loved him for that.

"James and I loved, read and discussed Rudyard Kipling’s poem - IF. Take time to read it and then think of James."

Meanwhile Samantha Niblett, who is the MP for South Derbyshire, said in a post: “I am so very sad to read an update from James’ dad that James is no longer with us.

“Thinking of James’ dad and mum, their family, and friends at this sad time of unimaginable pain and loss.

“Please remember their hearts will be broken and if they read anything online it should be kind words and consideration, no speculation.

“Thank you to those who rallied together to search for James. Sending much love.”
