Alexa Has Incredible Response When Asked 'What Her Favourite Chippy Is'

Alexa Has Incredible Response When Asked 'What Her Favourite Chippy Is'

The Amazon Alexa has joined in on the viral hype

In case you’ve somehow missed it, a certain Coventry-based chip shop is currently having a bit of a viral moment, and now even Amazon Alexa is getting in on it – check it out:

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s likely that by now you’re familiar with Binley Mega Chippy after it went viral in May.

Somewhat bizarrely, the unassuming chippy has taken the world by storm and has now even come to the attention of Amazon's Alexa.

If you ask Alexa: “What is your favourite chip shop?”

It will reply: “Obviously it’s the Binley Mega Chippy – the best thing to come out of Coventry since Lady Godiva.”

You can even ask Alexa to give you a rendition of the Binley Mega Chippy song.

Binley Mega Chippy started to gain the attention of millions when a TikTok food reviewer named @craigs.kebab.house posted a slideshow of the best takeaways in the UK, with Binley Mega Chippy being the first. From there, it spiralled wildly and fans even created its very own theme song.

Its popularity online spilled out into the real world and huge queues started to form outside the chippy last week.

The chip shop’s new-found viral fame came as a bit of a shock to owner Kamal Gandhi – who admitted to having ‘no idea’ why the shop has become so popular.

Gandhi said that he and his staff don’t use social media to advertise their business, so the whole thing was a surprise to him.

He told The Guardian: "Thursday it started to get busy, and I noticed people out the front taking pictures. I was just like, ‘What are people doing?’ We assume someone local who likes the food has made the song and it’s just gone viral."

Gandhi warned that if the influx in customers continues, the shop 'won't be able to cope' with ordering more and 'more stuff'.

"We will have to see how the week pans out,” he said. “We have to be prepared, we don’t want to run out of food. We are having to bring all the staff in."

However, he went on to say staff are 'not going to complain'.

He added: "I think the novelty will wear off, we do know that. But you never know, it could continue throughout the summer.”

But despite being rushed off their feet with new customers, Gandhi said the shop always aims to leave diners happy.

He added: "We just want to keep all our customers happy, on a regular basis."
