A couple who made the decision to stay celibate until their wedding night has shared the key things they wished they knew before their big day.
Canadian YouTuber Alicia Tucker got married to John, the love of her life, back in 2020, and opened up about how the pair decided to hold off on sex beforehand.
With all the waiting and wondering that comes, however, there's a lot they were not aware of.

Alicia has taken to her channel to reveal the five things she has learnt since doing the deed, and what she would recommend others who plan on consummating their marriage to do.

Talk about sex beforehand
The content creator shared a video titled 'Wedding night tips for the celibate brides' back in 2023, and it's full of useful suggestions.
Her first tip is to be open and honest with your loved one before you have sex.

Although it might seem pretty obvious, the idea of not discussing all of your concerns before potentially losing your virginity can be pretty daunting.
"So if you have a little bit of nerves about sex hurting you for the first time, definitely voice that to your fiancé," Alicia insisted.

Pee after sex
For anyone with a vagina, the YouTuber suggested that it helps to pee after intercourse.

"It's so important to pee after you have sex," she noted. "You can so easily get a UTI if you don't pee after having sex because there are a lot of fluids that happen during sex and if that goes into the wrong area, you can be in a lot of pain."
Lay a towel down
Another handy tip is to put a towel down on the bed with there being a potential to bleed after having sex for the first time for virgin brides.
Just laugh it off if things are awkward
Alicia urged people to not feel embarrassed or self-conscious if things get a little awkward.

"If it's uncomfortable, if it doesn't go super smooth, just laugh it off. That's a big part of the intimacy experience," she explained.
Be present in the moment
She said: "It's so difficult when your adrenaline is so high and it's a new experience that you have wanted for your whole life and your emotions are so high that it's really hard to be present."
It seems the advice worked for Alicia and John, who have since welcomed their first child together.
