The infamous family who did a runner from a restaurant without paying have since returned to settle the bill.

Earlier this week, The Fisherman's Arms in Newlyn near Penzance in Cornwall accused four people of walking off after indulging in a three-course meal and cocktails.

The group of six - which consisted of two men, two women and two children - are said to have arrived at the pub at 5pm on Father's Day.

As per the Daily Mail, they apparently stayed at the restaurant for three hours, downing cocktails galore, while munching three starters and six main courses.

As a result, they racked up a mammoth bill - £215 to be precise.

The restaurant accused the family of walking out without paying.

After accusing the family of leaving without paying, Lucy, the manager of The Fisherman's Arms went and did the media rounds, including speaking to The Mirror where she claimed one of the men approached the bar and asked how much the bill had come to.

"One of them came up to the bar, had a look at the bill and said the women were in the toilet," she said.

"He said they were going out for a cigarette and would come back to settle up, but they left.

"The women weren't in the toilet, they had already left."

Lucy went on to say the alleged incident was actually the first time the restaurant has missed out on money from customers, though it has only been open in Cornwall for seven months.

She continued: "They are not from round here, you want to trust people, but this wasn't an accidental walk-off.

"You can see one of the men shushing the other as they walk away on the CCTV."

The restaurant released CCTV footage in a bid to catch the family.

An update on this incident has been provided today (22 June), with the pub taking to Twitter to reveal the latest development.

It said the individuals have since returned to the pub and paid the full bill plus some extra 'as a gesture of good will'.

The Fisherman's Arms wrote on Twitter: "We wish to inform you that the individuals concerned regarding The Fathers Day incident have now contacted the pub and paid the bill in full,in fact they’ve overpaid as a gesture of goodwill. The matter is now closed!!"

Many have flocked to the comment section of the post to provide their thoughts on this unexpected breakthrough.

"Excellent news so pleased let’s hope they don’t do it to anyone else," one user wrote.

While a second suggested: "Pub watch ban so they have nowhere to eat out!"
