Mum pulls kid out of school after getting note from teacher saying lunch wasn't healthy

The mum was stunned to see the note written on her son's rubbish

A mum decided to remove her son from his nursery school after getting into an argument with teachers who branded his packed lunch 'unhealthy'.

Thinking back to when you were a kid, packed lunches were one of the best parts of the school day, weren't they? Unzipping that bag to discover what treasures had been chosen for you that day, and just hoping there were some sweet treats or salty snacks to see you through.

Lunch has to be the best part about school.

Mum Megan, from the US, thought she'd opted for a good mixture of snacks when she sent her three-year-old son to his nursery school, which had asked parents to provide their kids with healthy snacks.

In a post on TikTok, Megan said she'd packed things like a 'granola bar, yoghurt [and] fruit' for her son, but she'd also thrown in a cup of Pringles - something she didn't consider to be 'unhealthy'.

Unfortunately, staff at the school didn't agree.

They could have contacted the mother directly, but instead the school decided to make their opinions known by sending Megan's son home with a note written on the cup of Pringles Megan had given to him that morning.

It read: “Please help us make healthy choices at school.”

The mum was left furious over the note, saying: "They snack-shamed my three-year-old, they snack-shamed me, by writing that passive-aggressively.”

Megan explained that she and her husband don't 'label' food in their home as 'healthy and unhealthy' in a bid to avoid their children developing issues with food, so she contacted the school and told the director she was 'disappointed' with how the situation had been handled.

However, in the school's opinion, they weren't the ones being passive aggressive.

Megan explained: "She shared that it was passive aggressive of me to keep sending him Pringles after they did share to send healthy snacks. But I didn't consider Pringles to be this unhealthy snack."

The mum claimed she didn't receive an apology, and instead was told that the school 'no longer [had] a part time spot' for her son during the school's summer program.

Furious, the mum decided to remove her son from the school altogether.

"It just felt so uncalled for and disrespectful," she said. "I walked downstairs, and I checked my son out, and that's that. We're done there."

After sharing her story online, Megan was met with a wealth of support from viewers who argued she shouldn't have to explain why she chose to send her son to school with Pringles.

The mum expressed her thanks for those who stood by her side, and said her son is now spending a couple of days a week at another school.
