The story of a heartbroken husband finding his unfaithful wife on Google Maps has resurfaced, 13 years later.

Back in 2013, a man was simply researching the best way to reach a popular bridge in the city of Lima, the capital of Peru.

We've all been there before, sometimes going into Street View to make note of some landmarks to look out for before setting off on our travels.

But something almost none of us have experienced before, is noticing that your partner is in one of the Street View snaps, snuggling up to someone else.

That's what happened to this poor bloke as by some wild chance, a Google camera vehicle captured an image of his wife setting on a bench while stroking the hair of another man, whose head was in her lap.

He explained at the time that the picture caught his attention as he noticed that the woman was wearing identical clothing to his wife.

The man noticed a woman in a white top, jeans, and heels.

After this shocking revelation, he used the images as proof against his wife, accusing her of being unfaithful and cheating on him with this mystery man.

The Google Maps snap of the woman and her lover was on a bench near the city's Puente de los Suspiros de Barranco (Bridge of Sighs of the Ravine).

Though the couple's identities remain anonymous, the husband posted the pictures on Facebook, which generated plenty of backlash from users.

One social media account stated: "What a small world it is... It would have been enough if she said to her husband that she did not love him any more."

Others questioned the wife's loyalties in the first place, joining in with the outrage against the woman.

The couple would get a divorce in the aftermath of the Google Maps episode, as the woman confessed to having an affair.

In all fairness, did she have a leg to stand on?

Google Street View vehicles include bikes, cars and snowmobiles, and they are responsible for capturing locations around the world, which are then put online.

It means that millions of internet users have the privilege of going to most places in the world on Google Maps, and seeing what it really looks like from a 360 degree point-of-view.

So, the lesson here is if you want to have an affair, don't do it in public as a Google Street View vehicle could expose you.

Or of course, don't cheat in the first place.
