Flight attendant gets revenge on ‘fake vegetarian’ during flight

A flight attendant has shared their hilarious response to an awkward passenger who demanded a vegetarian dish - to later eat chicken

Being a flight attendant isn't by any means an easy job - from keeping everyone safe to putting on a smile to rude customers, some of them deserve a medal for their service.

But one attendant who grew tired of someone's awkward behaviour managed to get their own back on them in the perfect way.

The unnamed air host took to Reddit to share their story on a thread titled 'Malicious Compliance'.

Apparently they've worked in the profession for an impressive ten years and hailed themselves as the type of person that will 'bend over backwards to accommodate people'.

But, sadly, some customers will be 'dishonest' in a bid to get what they want from flight attendants like them - for example faking an injury in a bid to get upgraded. I mean, how do these people sleep at night?!

They then proceeded to give an example of a so-called vegetarian who kicked up a stink because they couldn't get the pasta dish they wanted, and the only thing left was chicken.

"He was flying in economy (coach) in the 2nd from last row," the flight attendant recalled.

The passenger was put out at the pasta dish was no longer available.

"He wanted the pasta option. I apologised and told him due to popular demand we had ran out in the middle of the cabin, but we had the chicken option instead if he wanted that.

"Without skipping a beat he said 'I'm a vegetarian. Last time they brought me a meal from business class, so I will just wait for that.'"

They went on to insist that they would have offered this option anyway, but in light of the grumpy passenger demanding it, it 'left a slightly bad taste in [their] mouth'.

They also said that they 'smelled a rat' as they were sure that they'd seen them scoffing a bag of non-vegetarian bacon crisps earlier on in the flight.

But, to keep the passenger sweet, the flight attendant promised to go see what they go do for them.

They continued: "I went up to Business Class. They had also ran out of the Veggy option. So I went up to First Class and asked if they could spare anything.

"We ended up putting a few leaves together with a bit of dressing. (They spend £1000s more up there and can dine at any time, so they didn't want me taking any of the hot Veggy options in case someone wanted it later. Fair enough). Then I thought... I could probably have some fun with this fake Vegetarian. Cue malicious compliance."

The flight attendant proceeded to take the meal back to the customer on a silver platter and explained that while first class had run out of their veggie options, they'd managed to put something together.

They then pulled the linen cloth that was covering the dish off and presented them with 'a very large salad'.

Disappointed with the option, the passenger insisted that they wanted food warm - so opted for the chicken dish that was still available and they were caught in the act.

Smug that they managed to out the 'fake veggie', the flight attendant concluded the lengthly post urging people to pre-order their vegetarian meals on their flight.

Someone replied to the post praising them for their so-called malicious compliance.

"I love it! I am vegetarian and I always preorder," the Redditor wrote. "You are a great cabin crew member for doing that for the vegetarians! And I loved this malicious compliance!"

Be nice to your cabin crew, folks.
