Extraordinary simulation shows what babies can hear inside the womb

The simulation has revealed exactly what it’s like to be inside the womb.

A simulation video has revealed exactly what it’s like for a baby when they're inside the womb.

The YouTube video, that mimics what a foetus can hear whilst inside the womb, has been described as ‘extraordinary’. Take a look:

With nearly 4,000 views, the creator - dimitris chronis Animus Mentis Productions - points out that in the late-stages of pregnancy, a baby is much more aware of musical tones - and although muffled, they can even recognise melodies.

The simulation not only demonstrates what babies can hear, but with the added amazement of knowing how they hear music.

In the video description, the creator said: “A baby is surrounded by amniotic fluid and wrapped in layers of their mother's body. This means that all external sounds are muffled.

“In the last trimester of pregnancy, babies become increasingly capable of hearing a range of musical tones, and studies confirm that babies react — in the womb — to the sounds they hear.”

The creator also said that if a certain song is played to the foetus throughout pregnancy again and again, they will likely recognise it when they are born… mind = blown.

Studies have found that not only can the baby hear their mum’s heartbeat while in the womb, they can also hear gurgles in their digestive system.

They added: “I came up with the idea to simulate this situation using spatial sound.”

The sound could be compared to white noise, with the addition of a heartbeat.

Studies have found that not only can the baby hear their mum’s heartbeat, they can also hear gurgles in their digestive system, her voice, and blood flow, according to KidsHealth.

But how did they recreate this unique sound?

The YouTube channel added: “I managed to put an ambisonic recorder in an enclosed basket filled with water and recorded the sound of an african lullaby coming through an outside bluetooth speaker.

"Therefore, I managed to capture the fluid motion of the ambisonic microphone/foetus through an ambix recording.

“I further processed the recording with eq, and also used an ultrasound of a foetus heart.”

People have been left fascinated by the simulation.

People in the comments were blown away by the video, especially those that were expecting.

One said: “So cool!! Thank you for doing this. I’ve been wondering what life sounds like for my baby.”

And another added: “Amazing beyond time and space, beautiful.”

According to Healthline, babies themselves attempt to make noise in the womb.

They can cry, despite it not making a sound.

They say: “The baby’s practice cries include imitating the breathing pattern, facial expression, and mouth movements of a baby crying outside of the womb.”
