As Valentine's Day rolls around each year, the world's restaurants and supermarkets go into a frenzy and gear everything towards the loved-up among us - with everything from 25p oysters at Morrisons and Coquilles Saint Jacques platters at M&S, right through to £6 meal deals for two at the Co-Op and cut-price fizz left, right and centre.

But what about those poor singletons - the ones making their own breakfast in bed and sending themselves a Valentine's card, before chowing down on chocolate truffles and entire bottles of cava alone?

Well, all is not lost. In fact, all is looking pretty rosy for the single folk this year, with one takeaway chain vowing to dish out free kebabs to them on 14 February.

According to data from Uber Eats, a single doner kebab is the most ordered food item on Valentine's Day - a depressing statistic if ever we've heard one, but one that they're managing to turn around.

As chefs across the globe brace themselves for a barrage of steak dinners and chocolate fondues to share, the takeaway delivery service will be ensuring it sees no pathetic solo orders by serving up free kebabs as part of a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

The freebie offer will mean no one has to send out for a pathetic, single kebab, as they'll simply give you another one free - perfect for a back-to-back binge, of you could save one for the next day for the ultimate breakfast of champions.

Of course, you'll be able to make use of the deal if you're part of a happy couple, too, you just sadly won't have any leftovers when you wake up.

And if you're not that into kebabs (you'll never find love with that attitude, btw), the Valentine's offer also applies to other selected items on the app, including Ben and Jerry's ice cream and pizza.

Toussaint Wattinne, General Manager, Uber Eats says: "While many lovebirds will be out wining and dining on the 14th, this year we want to make the Valentine's period all about celebrating friendship and love, whether you're in a relationship or not."

The BOGOF offer will be available at 600 of the UK's most popular restaurants, including Prezzo, Frankie and Benny's, Chiquito's and Pret, and will be offered nationwide across a five day period from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 February to anyone that orders through the Uber Eats App.
