He was out trying to photograph birds when he captured the footage

A man has caught what he claims is a UFO on camera while he was photographing birds from his garden.

Dad Bret Harrison Jones was snapping some nature photos at his home in Guilford County, North Carolina, two weeks ago, when he spotted the 'pill-shaped' object - and now he's keen to find out just what it is.

Bret said: "I was outside capturing video and photos of birds.

"I spent about an hour outside before deciding to head back in and then I saw a tiny flash in the corner of my eye.

"I happened to notice this random flashing light that just kept flashing that was kind of behind an airplane.

"I decided to try to capture it. I saw it for maybe 10 seconds or so and my camera would not focus on it so I thought I did not capture it at all.

"But, lo and behold, there was a brief flash and if you look carefully you can see this big flash comes into focus and you can see a pill-shaped object.

"When I saw it when I came back inside, it just blew me away. It was not what I expected at all.

"I don't know what that is. It's got two ends to it and it also looks like it's got a tether coming off the front of it or it's ejecting some kind of fluid off it.

"I think there is something inexplicable in the video, a UFO. I am not sure whether it is man made or alien.

"At the time, I strongly suspected the object to be at least the distance of a commercial aircraft. After analysing I think this is the case, and also it could be even further away, potentially outside the atmosphere."

In the clip, Bret can be heard giving a detailed account of what he's seeing, something which UFO and alien enthusiasts have praised him for. Well, they would, wouldn't they?

Bret added: "In person, my wife and my mom were surprised by what I captured.

"My sister in California said [she thought it was a] weather balloon but liked the artsiness of the overall video. My dad appreciated the thoroughness of the video.

"On YouTube, Facebook and other news sites, I had many people thanking me for capturing what they had been seeing.

"Some people flatly claimed it is a Mylar balloon, [and said] 'you can even see the tether'.

"A few claim to know what UFO craft it is - a TR-3B."

But Bret doesn't reckon that those claims are true because of the way the UFO behaved.

"Some say it is a balloon because of various factors; tether, floats with predominant wind direction, no noise, and Mylar balloons can look like they are flashing because they are so shiny.

"Given my entire experience, and analysing the video as best I can at this point, I have a hard time with that theory. I cannot completely rule it out, but the images I captured show a sequence of flashing, and tone changes on each end independently all within a fraction of a second.

"It just does not behave like a balloon would in my mind doing all of that in a such a short time without changing orientation much.

"The weird part to me is the idea that it kind of looks electrical, like a battery or fuse.

"The reason I think it was a UFO is it was visibly different than all the other flying craft...no trail left. Just this very tiny intense random flashing.

"The images I did capture look otherworldly to me. It behaves like something that did not want to be seen. I cannot say for sure what it is, but my gut reaction is that it is something otherworldly."

The truth is out there, Bret. Maybe.
