Theme park fans join four-hour queue for Alton Towers' epic new attraction

Alton Towers has relaunched a ride, and parkgoers are more than excited

Alton Towers has relaunched an iconic rollercoaster, and it seems that parkgoers are willing to wait four hours to get themselves on it.

While this ride closed down almost two years ago, it’s finally back, and thrill seekers are already finding it’s worth the wait.

Nemesis Reborn opened at the UK resort on March 16. The project’s revamping took 18 months, as the 716-metre-long track got ready to take on new riders.

After a couple of years years, what’s another four hours? And so parkgoers have been queuing up for that amount of time on opening day to be among the first to ride the attraction.

YouTube channel Parks and Pints recorded their wait for the new ride on opening day. Decked out in Nemesis t-shirts, the group queued for over four hours.

While that may be an exceedingly long time to wait, it seemed like the slog went by 'really fast', and was definitely worth it for them, as they reviewed the ride as 'bloody brilliant'.

"So good, I’m not mad that I queued four and a bit hours for it.”

Plus, they were kept busy by Alton Towers workers in red hazmat suits pretending to scan them in the queue, along with fake news reporters interviewing guests and claiming that 'they’re putting Nemesis blood into the water supply'. And of course, the YouTuber’s supply of 'pints' kept them happy.

Check out the queuing experience in the YouTube video below.

So far, reactions to the ride have been positive. And as stated by John Burton, senior creative lead at Merlin Magic Making, “For three decades the original Nemesis rollercoaster provided an unrivalled experience for countless millions of thrill-seekers - making it one of the most cherished attractions in the UK.

“So when it came to bringing it to life for the 21st century, the stakes couldn’t have been higher. That’s why we pulled out all the stops to create Nemesis Reborn.

“Everyone involved in this incredible project has poured their heart and soul into it to ensure we create a rollercoaster experience that is truly unrivalled and will set the standard for the next 30 years.”

The ride’s launch is just one of Alton Towers' newest openings. As part of the Staffordshire location’s opening for the 2024 season, the first Alton After Dark event took place, meaning that opening hours have been extended until 8pm.

Plenty more time to queue then!
