If you're heading on a city break over the festive period, you might notice some of the decorations look a little bit different this year.

No, you're not hallucinating - that really is a giant Furby-filled Christmas tree and there is dozens of big googly eyes blinking right back at you. Take a look here:

These furry festive trees are seemingly taking over a string of major metropolises this year - and whether you're a Furby fan or not, you can't help but stop and stare at these babies.

Capital cities across Europe appear to be favouring the aptly named 'Furbtrees' over traditional fir trees this year, putting a fluffier spin on the usual big green things.

They would surely make thousands of people do a double take when they're strolling down the street with armfuls of Christmas shopping.

The festive Furbies, all sporting red and purple coats, appear to be keeping a watchful eye on cities in France, Germany and the UK.

Furbtrees are cropping up all over Europe, including in London.

Obviously, they each also boast a neon pink Furby fairy on the top to complete it.

The wide-eyed creatures make up the huge Furbtrees which will bring a welcome dose of nostalgia over the holidays.

Furby fans will be rushing home to go and dig their own childhood toys from the loft which used to be joint to their hip.

Social media users have been left confused after pictures and videos of the Furbtrees began circulating online.

People in Paris seem to be a fan of the Furbified trees.

People have gone out in their masses to find the source, as residents and tourists alike have flooded the internet with videos and pictures of the Furbtrees, which pay homage to the iconic 90s toys.

Pictures online appear to show Furbtrees on London's Regent Street and in Paris on Boulevard Haussmann (Place Diaghilev).

PImages also depict on at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate.

It comes as Furby - the robotic, gobbledygook-spouting toys that the National Security Agency in the US banned from its premises for fear they'd spill official secrets - launched it's highly-anticipated comeback earlier this year.

Looks like we know what is going to be at the top of every kid's Christmas list this year.
