We all know how popular street interviews can become through the sheer power of the internet, but this one made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
All we have to do is (unfortunately) look at the likes of Hailey Welch, aka the 'Hawk Tuah' Girl and the success she got off the back of a short video taken on a night out where she's asked a question about her, err, bedroom habits.
Hailey Welch became an online sensation almost overnight after she said she 'spits on that thang' while speaking to a content creator on the street.
The viral moment was sadly one of the biggest moments of 2024, but it looks like two women became the subject of another video like that, this year.
Social media went wild when the short eight-second video started to do the rounds, as once again someone with a microphone approached some girls on a night out.
How real does this look to you? (X/@Zoya) Except, this wasn't what it appeared to be.
The lad, who was 'recording' the girls, asked: "What's one move with AI that makes haters go crazy every time?"
One of the women then gives an extremely cringey response, saying: "Y'all got to give them that, this is wild, it's over!
"We are cooked on that thread! You get me?"
The nonsensical response wasn't what people were talking about though, as a closer look reveals that the video went viral not for its content, but the fact that it's completely AI-generated.
It was really made with Google's 'state-of-the-art video generation model', Veo 3 - which some said was 'super easy to spot', while others claimed it was proof we're living in a 'multidimensional simulation'.
The new tool lets users add sound effects, ambient noise and even dialogue to their creations, and it caused a commotion online following its release back in May.
Eli Collins, Google DeepMind product vice president, said: "Veo 3 excels from text and image prompting to real-world physics and accurate lip syncing."
The video in question now has over 16.8 million views on X, with people shocked by how real the clip looks.
Certain angles looked more artificially created than others (X/@Zoya) It's almost uncanny, with one commenting: "Can't believe it's AI. So realistic," as another wrote: "It's over for humanity."
Someone else claimed it's 'changed the game' with viral clips.
A different viewer pointed out: "Soon, no one will know what's real or fake anymore."
Others were quick to claim that they knew AI was behind the clip, as one said: "Those are very good, very close to believable except a little lankiness, but not far away at all."
A second said: "Disappearing people in background can tell you. But ngl, it's actually impressive."
A third added: "You can absolutely tell. You'd have to be a moron not to. But soon, that won't be the case."
It's only going to get better. Scarily.
