World’s Loneliest Home On Deserted Island Goes On Sale For £260,000

World’s Loneliest Home On Deserted Island Goes On Sale For £260,000

If you've just about had enough of other people, this remote house with its own island could be for you.

A lonely little house with its own island is currently on the market and honestly, it seems like a pretty sound investment.

The one-bedroom house sits on a desert island off the coast of Wohoa Bay in Maine, US, and more than makes up for its size with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.

If you're looking for a remote island home, or have had enough of your neighbours, the house could be yours for £260,000 ($399,000).

The only house on Duck Ledges Island could be yours for £260,000.

The house sits on the cutely named Duck Ledges Island and, according to a listing for the house, 'there is no better place to spend the weekend in the world'.

While we're hazarding a bet that the lister has never been to Disney World, it does seem like a pretty nice gaff.

And don't worry, there's plenty to do: "The ledges surrounding the island are loaded with seals for constant entertainment."

Who needs a cinema when you've got seals?

There is actually WiFi on the island, so you won't have to write SOS in rocks if you need help in the unlikely event of an emergency. You probably can't get Deliveroo though.

Still, the views are incredible and its great for water-based activities with it being surrounded by the ocean.

The views are spectacular, though.

"Good anchorage and good landing points at any tide," the listing adds, "Mooring included adjacent the island and just a short boat ride from Jonesport public marina or Addison facility."

Basically, if you like sailing better than people, this is the bolthole for you.

However, there is a slight drawback as the plumbing situation seems a little less modern than we'd like... But you probably won't care much, because you'll literally be on your own private island.

Billy Milliken, an agent with Bold Coast Properties, said to the Daily Mail of the island: "The cottage has a setback of 75 feet and is a well-built, solid structure. Water has never been in the home - as the building is on stilts."

Plumbing on the island needs a little work, however.

"It’s a one-holer," he added, which we're assuming is a reference to the toilet situation.

Continuing to make the property seem a little less appealing, Milliken added: "At some point, you gotta wash (up). You can do that in the ocean, but it's awfully cold in Maine."

"It makes you feel small when you're on the island. The seals, the seabirds, the eagles, and the noises they make at night. And what’s interesting about an island with no trees, you really get that sense of how small you really are."

So, if you would like to feel small and alone but also get that peace and tranquility you've always been looking for, you can put an offer in on this beautiful but lonely house.
