Woman Branded A Cheat For Sleeping Next To Brother

Woman Branded A Cheat For Sleeping Next To Brother

She's now struggling to decide whether she was in the wrong or not

Picture it: you've had a long, busy day of study at university and the only thing on your mind is the thought of bed.

But your sibling is coming to stay while travelling for business in the area, so you leave the door unlocked for him to let himself in while you sleep.

When your sibling arrives in the early hours of the following day, he attempts to wake you up.

It's cold and you stay fast asleep. So, instead of finding a space on the floor or sofa, your sibling snuggles into bed with you.

The only problem? You have a boyfriend who left earlier in the week to stay with his sick mother.

It's 10:30am the next morning and your boyfriend is standing at the end of your bed accusing you of cheating.

Are you the a**hole?

Well, that's the exact question one woman turned to the Reddit community to find out.

The 20-year-old said her boyfriend suggested she had an incestuous relationship with her brother, 26.

"He starts saying how this is 'basically cheating', that this is absolutely disgusting and mega inappropriate and other delusional things like that," she wrote.

"I tell him that we've always shared a bed while living at home and that this is 100% platonic.

"He lets me know that 'we were snuggling under the blankets while sleeping'.

"I tell him yeah, that's what people do when they share a bed and it's cold."

Instead of pandering to her boyfriend's anxiety, the woman decided to spend the weekend at a hotel with her brother until her boyfriend had calmed down.

Many Reddit users felt, despite the awkwardness of the situation, the woman was not being an a**hole.

"If he doesn't change his stance on this, you should break up with him," one wrote.

"Next thing you know he's gonna sexualise you and your father's relationship when he gives you a hug and a kiss or (god forbid) when he walks you down the aisle."

Another said the boyfriend's reaction should be a 'deal breaker'.

Others sided with the boyfriend and agreed that cuddles with a sibling were a bit weird.

One wrote: "I have a good relationship with my siblings, we shared a bed for several years in the past. But we have never cuddled because it was cold.

"Shared many beds with lots of different people, but only cuddled romantic partners."
