Woman Charged Double For 'Eating Too Much' At All You Can Eat Buffet

All you can eat should mean exactly that, not getting charged twice

A woman has revealed that she was charged double at an ‘all you can eat’ restaurant because the proprietors believed she had eaten too much. You can hear her story below.

OK, so that really does violate the fundamental claim behind ‘all you can eat’, as well as being downright rude.

This story came from a TikToker called Poppy, who was responding to another video asking for people to share their experiences of fat-shaming.

Poppy, from the UK, explained that she’d been out for a meal at an 'all you can eat' buffet, but upon checking the receipt spotted that she’d been charged twice because she ate ‘too much’.

Again, really not on for that sort of restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter.

Of course, she refused to pay twice.

Poppy explained: “I once went to an all you can eat buffet, and when the bill came, I noticed they’d charged me twice,

“I questioned it and asked why, and they said I’d eaten too much.”

Poppy refused to pay twice, obviously.

At least she seems to find it funny – it would be really easy to get incredibly p***ed off at that sort of behaviour.

She’s far from the only person with a story like this, too.

Responding to the same video, loads of other people have been telling their tales of fat-shaming experiences.

One person said: “Patient asking me when the baby was due, I said it’s just cake, he was mortified, hopefully it taught him you never ask, not until the baby’s comin’ out.”

Another commented: “In the south of France went to a pharmacy for suntan lotion & pharmacist pointed me to the Slimfast display.

“He got the full Scottish [rage]!!”

Yikes, that’s hardly fantastic customer service.

A third person said: “Went into a Victoria’s Secret and a staff member came over to me, looked me up and down, said ‘we don’t sell YOUR size here’ – I left, never been back.”

It’s not surprising really, is it?

Someone else shared: “My mother-in-law said to me, ‘If you eat so healthily why are you so overweight,’ well she’s my ex mother-in-law now.”

If you're gonna say All You Can Eat, mean it.

Remember, being nice to folks is completely free, especially if they’re giving you money for something, such as eating a meal in a restaurant.

Also, if you’re going to get weird about it after the fact based on the amount that someone has eaten, you should probably think before you start offering people literally 'all they can eat'.

One for the Advertising Standards Authority, that.
