Woman horrified after man accidentally sends awkward text meant for mate

Woman horrified after man accidentally sends awkward text meant for mate

One woman couldn't believe the message she wrongly received from a date

While we all get the jitters before a first date, one woman certainly got a little bit more than what she was expecting.

The woman in question, Lauren Douthit, was left in total shock after receiving an awkward accidental text sent from her date who she was just hours away from meeting.

Taking to TikTok, Lauren shared the cringe-worthy ordeal with her thousands of followers.

Lauren, who intriguingly captioned the TikTok "This is only the START lemme tell u," can be seen laughing and covering her face out of second-hand embarrassment from the accidental texts sent by someone saved in her phone as "Maybe: Colin."

She also pasted the text: "Thinking about the time this guy accidentally sent me a screenshot of myself hours before our first date," over the video.

Her date had taken a screenshot of one of Lauren's Instagram photos and sent it to her instead of his mate.

Whoever "Maybe: Colin" was had taken a screenshot of one of Lauren's Instagram photos and inadvertently sent it to her instead of his mate.

Clearly figuring out the mishap just a little too late, Colin then sent a further three consecutive text messages attempting to explain the situation.

Totally self-aware of the awkward fiasco, Colin's first text of the three simply admitted defeat to the cringe.

"Wow I'm lame," he wrote, just before explaining: "My friend asked what girl I was hanging out with tonight."

Ready to throw in the towel, Colin ended his trilogy of texts with a defeated: "You can hate me now."

The short video has since received over 3.4 million plays, more than 254k likes and shedloads of comments from people rushing to weigh-in on the matter.

Some TikTok users eagerly theorised who the screenshot was actually intended for: "Bro was trying to flex to his boys…that’s a compliment."

"Its not really a big deal he was probably just bragging he had a date with a cute girl," a second chimed in.

Others even found the situation endearing with one person commenting: "I love that you got to see his photo of you. You know he stalked down your pics to send where he thinks you look the best."

One person commented: "Well at least you know what your 'this is her' picture is!"

Another also saw the bright-side and wrote: "Well at least you know what your 'this is her' picture is!"

A few went on to applaud the date for his honesty with one TikTok user congratulating "the fact that he was straight-up about it."

"Haha that’s rough but it seems like he was honest about it. Did you still go out with him?" another curious person asked.

And like an epic plot-twist, Lauren responded that she and Colin have actually been "Dating for 2 years :))"

Talk about an awkward first-date encounter...
