Woman thought she'd won £76 million until realising she was reading the wrong numbers

Talk about a humbling experience

One woman thought she'd won £76 million until realising she was reading the wrong numbers entirely.

The Aussie woman, Aishwarya, was well and truly humbled after wrongly reading out her lottery ticket and believing she had just hit the multi-million dollar jackpot.

Aishwarya took to TikTok to share with her followers the embarrassing, yet incredibly hilarious, blunder and how she was left utterly speechless upon realising her massive error.

In the short video, Aishwarya explained that she had bought a ticket to the Powerball lottery in Adelaide because she was 'feeling lucky'.

"My heart's f**king racing," she continued before announcing the news.

The Aussie woman was convinced she hit the £76 million ($100m AUD) jackpot.

She the then read out what she thought were the winning numbers that matched her ticket: "The number says draw '1414' and that's the number that f**king won.

"I think I just f**king won the lottery, my heart, no I'm not even f**king joking."

However, it didn't take long for Aishwarya's amazement to be turned to an embarrassed chuckle just 'a few minutes later'.

Upon further inspection, she realised the matching numbers were in fact not the winning figures and actually just the draw number.

Ouch.

Aishwarya realised the matching numbers were just the draw number - not the winning figures.

"This is just the number, it's just the number of f**king what drawer it is - it's not the actual winning numbers," Aishwarya explained.

She added: "I'm so dumb. The way I had already had it planned out, I was going to donate some to charity, was going to buy another house, I was gonna, you know, travel, I was going to quit my job," she laughed to herself.

"Wow, money does that," Aishwarya continued. "Money really makes you loco.

"What possessed me to think I would have won? This is why I don't play the lottery - I give myself the ick like oh my god."

So, instead of hitting the hefty AUD $100m jackpot (around £76 million) - unlucky Aishwarya ultimately won nothing.

Not even a single penny.

People dubbed the whole ordeal a 'humbling experience'.

Dozens of people have since rushed in to share their reactions to the cringe-worthy blunder.

Many sympathised with the hopeful woman with one TikTok user writing: "We've all been there honey girl."

"That's ok better luck next time," penned a second.

A third posted: "Aw I hope you win next time."

Others, however, clearly weren't so consoling.

"BAHAHHAHAHA AINT NO WAYYY I'd be silent for days," commented one.

A second echoed: "Gurl you made me laugh out loud but I hope you the best of luck for the next lottery game!!"

And a final TikTok user added: "It's a humbling experience."

It sure is.
