The 1975’s Matt Healy has been slammed after conducting an ‘age check’ before kissing a fan.

The 33-year-old singer had been playing a gig in Minneapolis, US, last week as a part of The 1975's tour when he noticed a sign from a fan asking for him to be her 'first kiss'.

TikTok user Iwani shared the now viral footage of the moment Healy stops mid-show to make their dream come true.
But before doing so, he can be seen checking the woman's ID as it's held by one of the security staff.
Prior to this, a separate clip shows the frontman telling her: "You better now be f***ing 16," before she tells him she has the identification to prove she's 22 years old.
Following the age check, he jumps off the stage towards the fan and asks: "Are you ready? Are you ready for your first kiss?"

After an enthusiastic 'yes', he plants one on her.
The TikToker shared the footage alongside text that reads: "My best friend kissed Matty!"
Although the woman is clearly delighted with the outcome, some people online have called out The 1975 star for the interaction.

"If you need to ID someone before kissing them then don't kiss them," wrote one Twitter user.
Another said: "How old are they? When I was younger this was a dream for sure, and I'm happy for them, but at this point the ethics of this situation scares me"
A third added: "I've never been to a single concert where someone in the band comes down and makes out with a random audience member and I've been to over 100 different shows(including Gwar where they spill blood on everyone).

Over on TikTok, there were many similar comments, including from this person who described it as the 'most unsettling thing I’ve ever seen'.
A second chimed in, "There’s something just a little creepy about this," while a third added, "I can’t defend this man anymore."
Not everyone was against the kiss, however, with some people defending the singer.

"Maybe he was checking her ID to make sure she wasn't lying about being 22, y'all are so annoying," said one.
Another wrote, "I don’t understand the problem everyone has with this? not only did he confirm she was of age but also asked her consent before the kiss."
