Sex Education season four has officially been confirmed, just a couple of weeks after season three landed on Netflix and received rave reviews. Here's everything we know.

The fourth instalment of the popular comedy-drama was officially confirmed on 25th September 2021 by Netflix on Twitter. It comes after Sex Education season three landed on the streaming site on 17th September - and was no doubt devoured by fans in one sitting.

After shocking viewers with a racy opening scene, season three (spoilers ahead) introduced viewers to three new characters: new headmistress Hope Hadden (Jemima Kirke), non-binary student Cal (Dua Saleh), and Peter Groff, headmaster Groff's older, more successful brother (Jason Isaacs).

The new headmistress certainly shook things up as she set out to restore her old high school to its former glory, which didn't go down well with fans or Moordale's students. But as the series progressed, viewers learned there's a reason that she's so highly strung, and her past isn't as squeaky clean as she makes out. Season four would likely delve deeper into Hope Haddon's backstory.

We're sure to see more storylines develop with the new characters in season four, along with a fresh load of antics from Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve's (Emma Mackey) sex therapy business.

The season three finale left a lot of cliffhangers, including the bombshell that Moordale High is going up for sale. So, there's plenty of scope for season four - perhaps even season five? (one can only hope).

Whatever happens, we're guaranteed to see plenty more sexual mishaps and full-on scenes, so we can see why Gillian Anderson banned her children from watching it.

When is Sex Education season 4 out?

It's too early to say when Sex Education season four will be released. Our guesses would be late-2022/early 2023.

Sex Education season 4 trailer

As the series has only just been renewed, it's too early to expect a trailer yet. We'll drop it here as soon as it's released.

With headmaster Groff being sacked at the end of season two and the new headmistress stepping in at the start of season three, Alistair Petrie would surely be in season four, as he's Adam's dad, but he's likely to appear less than in previous seasons.
