Fred Sirieix said road trip with Gino and Gordon was 'fun while it lasted' as he gives update on friendship

First Dates star Fred Sirieix has broken his silence on the state of his, Gino D’Acampo and Gordon Ramsay’s friendship following rumours the trio had fallen out with each other.

Last month it was revealed that D’Acampo, 46, was saying farewell to Sirieix and Ramsay as he announced he was quitting their travel TV show, Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip.

The beloved show has three series - with a subsequent fourth on the way soon - and saw the outspoken trio testing food and each other’s tempers in countries such as Italy, Greece and America.

However, the rumour mill went into overdrive after Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip was cancelled by ITV — with a possible feud between the stars being the suspected main cause among fans.

At the time of his departure, D’Acampo appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the end of the show.

He told hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls: “We tried and we got the dates, and then the dates got cancelled, and then [we tried] other dates and they got cancelled again.

“And then I thought, ‘I can’t do this anymore, this is becoming too stressful, I just don’t want to do it'.”

However, D’Acampo made it clear he still ‘loves the boys’ and that their ‘great friendship’ remains intact.

However, maitre d’ Sirieix has now broken his silence on the suspected fall-out as well as the cancellation of Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip.

In an interview with the Mirror, Sirieix put any further speculation that the trio were on bad terms to bed.

Regarding the final series, he said: “This is the last trip we’ve filmed and it was very good, very funny, we had a good time. You will see it and then you’re not going to see it anymore.

“You just have to go with the flow in life, some things come and some things go. It was great, we enjoyed it, we had fun while it lasted and now it’s not going to happen anymore.”

Elsewhere in the interview, he said all was well with D’Acampo following his high-profile exit from the travel series, with the star saying the pair were still close and he had 'spoken to Gino yesterday'.

Following the end of Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, Sirieix is swapping his wanderlust for some green finger-fun as he’s joined the judging panel for the B&Q Gardner of the Year competition.

He encouraged anybody who ‘loves gardening’ to get involved, explaining: “All you have to do is go on the website and submit you garden. It’s a no-brainer. I’m going to be fighting for the best one.”
