People Amazed By Effects In Avatar 2 Teaser Trailer

We've been offered our first glimpse at the much-anticipated sequel, and many people have been blown away

The first teaser trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water has dropped, and people are already amazed by the special effects. Check it out here:

Fans have been waiting a long old time for the sequel. It was originally set for release in 2014, and we're only getting the first teaser now - so maybe cut yourself some slack if you still haven't done the dishes from the weekend.

The original James Cameron movie came out way back in 2009 and it was a colossal success, both at the box office and during awards season.

In particular, the film's visual effects stunned audiences across the globe, and so people had very high expectations for the sequel.

But even with this outrageously high bar, people have been blown away by the new teaser.

One person wrote: "This has some of the most breath-taking special effects I've ever seen.

"It looks so incredibly beautiful. I'm seeing this phenomenal-looking movie on the biggest screen I can find."

Another added: "If you understand the process of visual effects, you already know Avatar could win the VFX Oscar just off this teaser alone."

A third said: "See, for the past 10 or so years I've been s***ting on the Avatar sequels but this trailer is literally the greatest work of CGI visual effects I've ever seen so, uh, I'm hype now. Sorry James Cameron. :("

The sci-fi action adventure film will see the return of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Na'vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), as well as Sigourney Weaver as Dr Grace Augustine and Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch.

Kate Winslet and Vin Diesel have also joined the cast.

Set more than a decade after the first film, the movie will follow the Sully family, documenting the battles they fight and the tragedies they endure to keep each other safe.

At CinemaCon, where the teaser was initially revealed, Cameron said: "[We're] pushing limits even farther with high frame rate, higher resolution 3D and greater reality in our visual effects.

"I wanted our return to Pandora to be something really special. Every shot is designed for the biggest screen, highest resolution and most immersive 3D available. I think we pulled it off."

Fans are already astonished over the special effects.

The director is still 'hard at work putting the final touches on the film', but from just two minutes, it seems we're set for another gobsmacking movie later this year.

Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch) told EW: "I think [fans will] be enchanted and fascinated. Look, there are people who are going to just adore this world."

Amazingly though, this is only the first of three other planned sequels: reportedly, the third, fourth and fifth instalments will be titled Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa respectively.

For the time being though, let's just excited for the sequel - and pray there are no more delays.

Avatar: The Way of Water is due for release on 16 December.
