Carol was born Carol MacKellaig in Moar, Invernessshire as one of eight children. Carol, alongside her siblings attended a private school as a child, then later joined Lochaber High School, where she excelled. After school she decided to further her education at Napier College of Commerce and Technology in Edinburgh where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in commerce. With her natural soft Scottish brogue, she has earned herself voice parts in a variety of audio projects from children’s fantasy stories to educational help videos.

It was after her graduation that Carol joined the BBC’s secretarial reserve in London, in where she then transferred internally through the BBC, presenting stints across BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and then BBC Radio. In 1996 Carol joined the new UK operation of The Weather Channel, but after it closed down she underwent training at the BBC Met Office, before then joining the BBC News in 1998 as a weather presenter. 

Over her career at the BBC Carol has not only brightened UK news each morning presenting the weather but she has also appeared on many celebrity shows such as Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 where she placed 10th. She has also made appearances on popular CBBC shows such as Hacker Time as well as comedy shows such as Would I Lie to You. Carol’s energetic, likeable personality, combined with her professional nature has meant she has been recognised for her work by the Television and Radio Industry Club (TRIC) multiple times, winning awards for the best weather presenter six times!

As well as boosting her net worth by appearing on celebrity shows, Carol has recently utilised her writing skills she learnt from her love of literature, publishing her debut novel in 2021. Her first book, Under a Greek Moon quickly became a bestseller across the UK.
