Real-Life Cats Are Loving Their Owners Playing Open-World Video Game Called Stray

Cats have become 'transfixed' by the game where the main character is a stray tabby who gets to explore the world.

The open-world video game Stray has finally dropped and people are absolutely loving being able to play as a cat that gets to roam in a futuristic landscape.

However, do you know who is loving Stray more than humans? That would be real-world cats.

Gamers have filmed themselves playing the brand new video and showing how their pets have become 'transfixed' by the strange character on the screen.

Honestly, with all that's happening in the world at the moment, this content is so sorely needed.

The cats seen in the viral social media clips get as close to the TV or monitor as possible as they finally get to see themselves represented in the video game industry.

Stray is the debut adventure game from indie developer BlueTwelve Studio and publisher Annapurna Interactive, which follows the story of a street cat who is on a mission to return to its family.

The official synopsis for the game is set as: "Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home.

" Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly.

"See the world through the eyes of a stray and interact with the environment in playful ways."

People are absolutely raving about the game

One person on social media said it was the ‘best game humankind has ever created’, while another added: “Stray was a beautiful game… incredibly art directed (that lighting!) Loved exploring its world.

"Congrats to Blue Twelve Studio! Can’t wait to see what’s next for them!”

The Metacritic rating for the game is so far 84 out of 100, which is fairly good for a debut, while the audience score is at 8.6 out of 10.

Speaking to LADbible’s sister site GAMINGbible last month, BlueTwelve producer Swann Martin-Raget said it was ‘always very important’ to allow users to feel as annoying as felinely possible while playing.

He said: “A huge portion of the team are cat owners - or owned by cats, depending on how you see it.

"We all have this loving relationship with our animals, but we also know very clearly how cats can have a bit of a… temper.

“We also have cats in our office that work with us every day. Sometimes they turn off the computer when you're about to save your work, or start ‘singing’ during an important call.

"So it's a very nice reminder that even though they're absolutely cute and adorable, they also have their own personalities. Having that in the game was really important from the start.”

Play Stray on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam now.
