​Liam Neeson Says He's Up For Playing Star Wars' Qui-Gon Again

Whether it's the whole 'I'm your father' thing or the entire franchise being sold to Disney, the Star Wars world is well known for surprising fans with just about anything. Even in the latest film, The Last Jedi, we got a nice little surprise from a certain pint-sized character.

Lately, there have been rumours circulating about a potential Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off movie in the works - with Ewan McGregor photographed working out with fitness trainer Tony Horton, who's famous for extreme fitness programme that would be gruelling enough to get a Jedi knight back into shape.

But now the character everyone wants to know about is Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Master played by Liam Neeson - who has cryptically told us that 'anything is possible'.

"This is the first time I'm hearing of this," he replied. "No one's been in touch with me."

But he also added: "I know in the Star Wars world anything is possible.

"In the first one, The Phantom Menace, I died but we know - you know - Jedis come back and stuff, but no one's been in touch. We'll see."

Certainly sounds like he's open to the idea, which is a step in the right direction at the very least.

And it's not like Star Wars spin-offs aren't unheard of, with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story recently being released. Then of course there's the untitled Han Solo film reportedly due to hit the silver screen in May 2018.

Lucasfilm, who sold the Star Wars franchise to Walt Disney Pictures, is also apparently looking into Yoda and Boba Fett films, among other Star Wars entries.

So like Neeson says, anything's possible, right? Even if it's him in ghost form, or a flashback or whatever. We're easy.

In the meantime, you can catch Neeson in new film The Commuter, an action thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

The film stars Neeson as a man called Michael MacCauley, whose daily commute gets quite the shake-up after he meets a mysterious woman - and is then unwittingly recruited into a murder conspiracy. Given that most of us complain when there's a delay on the Tube, we're gonna put it out there and say rather you than us, Neeson.
