Florence Pugh has hit back at the criticism and bullying she's faced since embarking on a relationship with fellow actor Zach Braff.

The 25-year-old said she thinks people are bothered by her relationship with former Scrubs actor Zach, 46, because he's 'not who they expected' her to be with.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, she agreed with a suggestion put to her that people would prefer it if she dated someone like her Little Women co-star Timothée Chalamet.

Imagine if we lived our lives depending on what others' found 'preferable', eh?

She said: "But it's my life, and I'm not doing anything to please people or to make it a better headline or story. I want to also be a person."

It's not the first time that Florence has experienced negativity when it comes to her life choices. She's spoken out previously about negative comments on social media posts (specifically where had wished Zach a happy birthday).

After posting a picture of Zach with their adorable dog Billie, Florence hit back at trolls.

The following video was uploaded after she noticed some of the comments:

In the clip, she said: "Within about eight minutes of the photo being posted I had about 70 people in the comments hurling abuse and being horrid, and basically bullying someone on my page."

She continued: "It is the first time in my entire Instagram life that I've had to turn off the comments on my page. I have never been an Instagram page that encourages that, I have never been an Instagram page that likes that toxic vibe.

"I have only been an Instagram page that tries to bring some light and tries to be positive, and tries to make people smile."

She went on to say she 'will not allow that behaviour', adding: "It makes me upset, it makes me sad that during this time when we really all need to be together, we need to be supporting one another.

"We need to be loving one another, the world is aching and the world is dying and a few of you have decided to bully for no reason.

"I'm 24 years old, I have been working since I was 17 years old, I have been earning money since I was 17 years old, I became an adult when I was 18 years old and I started paying taxes when I was 18 years old - I underline this fact, I am 24 years old.

"I do not need you tell me who I should and should not love, and I would never in my life ever tell anyone who they can and cannot love."
