Adam Sandler shared the real reason he wears baggy clothing

He wore it for one reason when he was young and another now he's older

Adam Sandler has revealed the reason he loves wearing baggy clothing, or reasons if you want to be specific about it.

If you've seen the actor and comedian out and about then you've probably seen him wearing something a bit baggy and not exactly form-fitting.

He's a style icon unto himself at this point, but there's two clear reasons why Sandler prefers to go baggy rather than slim fit when he's picking out his outfits for the day.

The first reason he had when he was young and wanting to give people a bit of a surprise, but the older he's got the more another reason has come into play.

"The baggy stuff for the young Adam Sandler started for a reason, I used to be very, this is not a lie, I was jacked," Sandler said of his first reason for loving the baggy clothes while on the Pardon My Take podcast.

"I was jacked so when I had a beautiful body I would hide it and then surprise you at the beach when the stuff came off, it would be like 'the Sandman's ripped? I didn't know that.'

"Now I go loose 'cause it's, it should be hid."

The 57-year-old maybe has a bit more of a dad-bod these days than he used to, though that's nothing to be worried about as it's actually pretty popular.

Sandler does love the big baggy clothing though, as seen in a recent incident where he was performing on stage and brought the show to a halt to draw attention to someone in the crowd in medical distress.

What he was wearing while he ensured the fan got medical attention was probably the least important part of that story, but rest assured he was in baggy clothes.

Footage of a younger Sandler doing his comedy shows he was definitely a fan of the baggy, loose fitting clothes even back in the days when he was just starting out for '10 bucks a night'.

Sandler started his career as a New York City comic, performing over 500 gigs at The Comic Strip where he was paid just $10 for his efforts.

It all paid off in the end, however, and he credits having a guitar with him on stage for getting through to some of the tougher crowds.

He said: "I was so nervous every time then I'd get up and I wouldn't remember what I was supposed to say and go blank.

"You have the guitar in your hands because that way I was at least doing something - it was the security blanket."
