Boxing fans think they've figured out why Andrew Tate's says he's the new CEO of Misfits, and why KSI is kicking off about it.

The controversial influencer and former kickboxer, 38, has claimed to have replaced Misfits co-founder KSI as CEO.

Tate's announcement video was posted ahead of his scheduled fight against reality TV personality Chase DeMoor, 29, which is set for 20 December in Dubai.

The Tate brothers are still facing rape and human trafficking allegations in Romania, as well as 21 charges from the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) - all of which Andrew and Tristan deny.

Taking to social media, Tate said he joined Misfits to elevate the brand’s global presence.

“The largest disruptive force in sports entertainment history,” he called the company, stating that someone 'failed at their obligations' and was 'ousted', allowing him to take over.

In an interview with Fred Talks Fighting, Tate claimed he took Misfits from KSI over a 'feud', saying: “KSI tweeted something that annoyed me three years ago, so long story short, I took his company from him.”

He added that owning a share in the organisation made 'business sense'.

Misfits Boxing, co-founded in 2021 by KSI, Mams Taylor, and promoters Kalle and Nisse Sauerland, has become a hub for crossover boxing events featuring influencers and celebrities. KSI himself has competed in five matches under the promotion.

Well, the YouTuber reacted furiously to Tate’s announcement on X, writing: “This year people are trying to test me fr. WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K IS GOING ON? This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

"Let’s make ANDREW TATE THE CEO OF MISFITS?!? ARE YOU F**KING SERIOUS?!?”

However, it seems boxing fans aren't quite having it, with some comparing it to that of a 'WWE storyline'.

"It makes no sense for them to run this storyline of booting KSI and replacing him with Tate if they weren't gonna set that up as a future fight," one person tweeted.

While another thought: "Although i do believe that this is all a storyline, cause it literally has the WWE vibe, i do think that Andrew Tate is somewhere in the high leagues and KSI works with him or has some sort of association with him, because this is building the KSI vs Andrew Tate fight."

Some even suggested that the pair are playing up to the 'heel' (bad guy) and 'baby face' (good guy) storytelling philosophy almost always used in pro wrestling.

"Well as long as you call out KSI for being complicit in this," a third penned.

"He is 100 percent [the] mastermind of this weird WWE Misfit storyline they are playing. In fact I would say he is worse as he engineered it and thinks he can still come out looking good with his pal & business partner Tate playing heel."

Predicting what would or could happen on the night, someone else commented: "Tate wins his fight, KSI is in crowd, Tate v KSI next summer, winner gets the company straight wwe storyline."

I guess we'll have to wait and see.
