Hollywood megastar Anne Hathaway has been accused of being 'rude' towards her fans in a recently resurfaced video.

Hathaway was seen waving to fans in the TikTok clip, but viewers think that she didn't handle the situation in the nicest way.

Celebrities are often criticised for any behaviour that seems out of line or ungrateful towards their fans, but sometimes it is worth remembering that they are people too.

This doesn't stop people from debating online though, who feel that celebrities should be more gracious towards fans.

In this particular clip, which has recently resurfaced, Hathaway was filmed going into the Valentino fashion show in Italy.

The actress steps out of the car to a huge welcome from fans as they ask for pictures and cheer her name.

There were a lot of people there, too many for her to take a picture with each one, but she stood there for a while, waving and smiling for photos.

Anne Hathaway told fans to be 'calma' as she spoke to them.

She then spoke to her fans in her best Italian, explaining: "I cannot take photos with everyone as there's too many of you but I will stand here and wave if you would like to take a photo."

Hathaway seemed genuine and continued: "Mi dispiace [I'm sorry] but I want you to have something so if you'd like I'll just wave a little bit.

"Thank you for understanding. Thank you for waiting."

However, a fan continued to push for a selfie with the Les Miserables star, to which she then said: "I cannot [get a photo] with you because then I have to get a photo with everyone, it's too many, but thank you so much."

She then let out a laugh, thanking her fans once again for waiting, again addressing them in Italian.

But fans online were completely split on whether her dealing of the situation was rude or acceptable.

Anne Hathaway could be heard muttering her best Italian to fans.

One viewer said on TikTok: "Was she telling me to 'calm down' and using her hand and her tone. Like there are 20 people take a pix,"

Another commented: "It seems she is dealing with them as they were dogs or something, is a weird situation."

A third disagreed, saying: "Anne is an angel! She set her boundaries and was very respectful and polite."

Another user echoed these thoughts: "No clue how hyped up the crowd was when they got there. I’m good with what she did. Zero issues."

Regardless of what you think though, you have to respect that she actually spoke to her fans when a lot of other stars would have stayed silent.

LADbible has reached out to Anne Hathaway's representatives for comment.
