For some reason, there have been a number of theories about celebrity clones over the years.
Even though the Dolly the sheep clone experiment was the only success after 276 attempts, and scientists have struggled to replicate that ever since, the internet is never one to let facts get in the way of their theories.
While we have had some more recent progress with de-extinction, the idea of cloning a human feels a long way off, even though many have been convinced that Avril Lavigne was replaced in the 2000s after a conspiracy theory suggested that she died.
This theory is seemingly exclusive to female pop stars as Britney Spears is the latest to be the victim of these toxic conspiracy theories, with many in the deep corners of the internet convinced that it has happened one more time.

However, the 44-year-old's teenage son Jayden has thankfully now put those rumours to bed, after addressing the claims on his social media.
He said: "I see this one video [on TikTok] that has like 1.2 million likes and then the caption is like, 'The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?' Bro, you can go to her page and see her right now. Are you guys tweaking?"
"Do you find it silly when people spread rumours like clone theory?" his friend then asked, to which Jayden laughed and the friend added: "Yes, he does find it ridiculous!"

It seems as if Spears has been spending a lot more time with her two sons in recent times, having been arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) earlier this year.
On her return to Instagram, Spears thanked her fans for their support and revealed that she has been spending time with her children, whom she shares with ex Kevin Federline, even reuniting with her eldest son Sean Preston Federline who changed his name on social media in support for his mother.
Meanwhile, Jayden added: "It makes me really know that a lot of the stuff on media is exaggerated and fake. People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage, and anyone who sees that on [social] media, they see it, and if it has a lot of likes, they believe it. They don’t even research it. They’re just, 'Wow, yeah, it’s crazy. I believe it though'."
Many online had suggested that the singer's recent videos which show her dancing, alongside some cryptic captions, might well have been 'clues' about the real 'truth', but the reality is that these people have too much time on their hands.

Jayden concluded: "I honestly feel bad. I get it, though, how everyone is like a really huge fan of my mum, but you got to think stuff on [social ] media - it's never as overthinking [sic] as they make it seem. Like, don't overthink it. It's not as complicated as it seems."
Britney has obviously dealt with intense pressure from the media and paparazzi throughout her career, which skyrocketed when she released Baby One More Time at the age of just 16.
Although she's had some awkward run-ins with the media over the years, which of course led to her shaving her head, it's pretty clear that she's still the same old Britney.
There is an argument that a robotic clone of Britney might have been able to smash Usain Bolt's 100m record though, as she claimed to do back during the Coronavirus pandemic.
