Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick pushed to answer whether Britney Spears Toxic is about him

Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick pushed to answer whether Britney Spears Toxic is about him

The piece of pop trivia has managed to blow the minds of Britney fans.

We've all sang along to the lyrics of Britney Spears' Toxic and wondered who the bloke with a taste of a poison paradise actually is.

But I bet SuperVet Noel Fitzpatrick wasn't at the top of your list.

The Irish vet inspired the hit song from her 2003 album, In the Zone, that we have all belted out thinking about a lethal lover.

The piece of pop trivia has managed to blow the minds of Britney fans, who hadn't initially pegged the Channel 4 charmer as the man who had her 'slippin' under'.

And you'll be forgiven for thinking that you missed out of a huge chunk of pop culture and the pair were in a turbulent relationship though - because Fitzpatrick didn't date Spears herself.

Fitzpatrick, 55, actually ended up as the muse for the legendary piece of music due to other circumstances.

The TV personality was actually in a relationship with songwriter, Cathy Dennis.

They reportedly first met when she brought her Labrador, Charlie, in for a check-up with the vet.

While the songwriter’s heart was set aflutter, the couple weren’t meant to be and split in 2003 – the same year ‘Toxic’ was released.

Having also written chart toppers like 'I Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and ‘I Kissed a Girl’, Dennis decided to hit out at her ill-fated romance with the Supervet.

While Fitzpatrick is usually associated with all things cute and cuddly, the number 1 song describes the relationship as ‘addictive’ and ‘dangerous’.

And he was pressed for an answer about whether the song was written about him during an appearance on Ireland AM last year.

The Princess of Pop released the song back in 2003.

While chatting with hosts Elaine and Killian, they couldn't resist asking Fitzpatrick about his link to Britney.

The vet kept his cards close to his chest, but did explain that his 'ex-girlfriend wrote the song'.

He added: "At the same time, she wrote Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head, so I'm going to park that one with you."

Fair play to Fitzpatrick - as that's some good material to pull out on a first date.

Presenter Holly Willoughby had also asked him about the validity of the rumour when he appeared on This Morning back in June.

He again directed fans to listen to Minogue's song instead.

The bizarre connection between the Supervet and the A-lister has continued to wow fans.

Well, there is nothing better than a bit of gossip.
