Chart-topping popstar Katy Perry has fallen flat on her face when it comes to interpreting the reality gap between celebrities and us mere common folk.

Earlier this week, a fan of the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer announced on social media platform X that they were in such a mental rut and financial hole that the best way to proceed was to potentially sell off her concert ticket for one of Perry's upcoming performances.

"I so badly don't wanna be here anymore," began the fan's post. "I'm not cut out for this world like I cannot afford to live at this rate and I'm so close to selling my Katy ticket."

Although Perry meant well with her direct response, the 41-year-old clearly missed the vital component of reading the room when she wrote back: "But I am looking forward to seeing you!"

Low and behold, this rather blasé outlook has received pelters from those who witnessed the pair's exchange, which ended with the upset individual replying: "I love you," alongside a hug and heart emoji.

"God, you are so out of touch," blasted one person. "Someone is clearly going through it and your best response is 'but I'm looking forward to seeing you!'. Gross. Do better."

A second person shared: "This is so grim. Not even an offer of a free ticket or help offered... girlz."

Somebody else went on to highlight: "She can't afford to live at this rate and all you do is say that you look forward seeing her?" before a fourth questioned: "Is this not a crazy thing to say to someone considering selling their ticket because they're severely struggling financially."

"That's not going to solve her financial issues though and put her in a better place mentally???" pointed out a fellow X user.

Maybe next time just do the obvious and right thing by offering one of your millions of adoring followers a couple of free tickets?

This comes after the son of Perry's current boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, revealed what he really thinks of her.

In an Instagram video posted last month, Xavier Trudeau described the former wife of Russell Brand as "cool" and "nice".

He explained that they've spoken at length about the music industry, which he's one day hoping to break into.

"We talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff."
