Chad Lowe’s dad pays tribute to granddaughter Fiona after her tragic death aged 13

The father of Chad Lowe has shared a touching tribute to his granddaughter Fiona following her tragic death at just 13.

Charles Lowe, who is also dad to actor Rob Lowe, posted a sweet snap of Fiona smiling up at the camera while in a swimming pool.

Sharing the image, he wrote: “Rest in peace sweet Fiona.”

Actor Chad and his wife Kim Painter confirmed the family’s devastating news in a statement shared with PEOPLE on Tuesday.

"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said.

“She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.

According to Page Six, parents at the school Fiona attended were sent an email informing them a student had died.

The email, which did not name the student, read: “It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends and teachers.

“Counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”

Chad and Kim married in 2010 and went on to have three children together: Mable in 2009, Fiona in 2012, and Nixie in 2016.

The proud dad has shared regular updates on his family over the years, including one marking Fiona’s birthday back in November.

Posting several photos of his daughter, Chad wrote: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"

In a more poignant post, Chad heaped praise on his daughters for how they handled losing their childhood home in Los Angeles during the Palisades fire.

Sharing a photo of him and his three daughters visiting the site, he wrote: “Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home.

“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable.

“I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

Chad is most famous for his role in Life Goes On, for which he won an Emmy, but has had a long career in TV and film with roles in Pretty Little Liars, Melrose Place, 24, Supergirl and 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Kim works as a film and television producer.
