Eve Hewson hits back at nepo baby label as Disclosure Day star opens up on Bono being her dad
Spielberg’s newest film contains an absolutely stacked cast that includes some of the best actors in the industry right now.
Between Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Wyatt Russell, the cast of Disclosure Day is full of A-List celebrities who clearly wanted to work with the iconic director Steven Spielberg.
One of the main characters however is played by Irish actor Eve Hewson, who is best known for TV such as Bad Sisters and Netflix's The Perfect Couple but is undeniably not quite as big a name as her fellow co-stars.
Hewson is herself the daughter of someone arguably more famous than anyone in the cast, and has spoken out about accusations that she is a ‘nepo baby’ in since deleted tweets.

Though the music and film industry are less connected than people often imagine, it is hard to say that your dad being the lead singer of U2, one of the most successful bands of all time, didn’t give you a leg up.
In 2022 Hewson joked on Twitter that her goal for 2023 was ‘to be successful enough to get recognised as a nepo baby’.
She also joked that she was planning to get a ‘tattoo on her a*se saying Nepo Baby’, but ultimately appeared pretty self-aware of the whole thing.
She tweeted: “For those of you who have just tuned in to my existence, I am asked about my privilege a lot. And I have always been very keen to state how much my father’s name helped me get a start in acting.
“I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I’ve had in my life. I chose to make a few jokes about it this round.”
Hewson waded in after a New Yorker article about ‘nepo babies’ went viral, even joking herself that the editor of the magazine was also a ‘nepo baby’. She said to GQ: “For my whole life, that conversation has always happened: people always have an opinion before I even meet them… because of the way that I’ve been brought into this world, which I don’t have any control over. It’s just always been a part of who I am, I guess.”

Nepo babies undeniably have a leg up in life, they often have the financial and social head-start on their peers by pure fact of their privilege.
That said, the world has seen some incredibly untalented nepo babies over the years – and so it’s always nice when one appears to actually be very good at what they do.
This is true for Eve Hewson, with DiscussingFilm’s Nicolás Delgadillo saying: “Everyone is praising Emily Blunt’s performance in Disclosure Day - of course, rightfully so - but EVE HEWSON is the real secret ingredient to this cast.
“Phenomenal, and the character I keep coming back to whenever I think on this movie. Which is a lot.” Another review on X called her a ‘revelation’, whilst a third called her the ‘MVP’ of the film.
