Helen Flanagan shares reality of rumoured ‘throuple’ with David Haye

Helen Flanagan has set the record straight regarding reports of a rumoured 'throuple' with David Haye.

Following a split from her long-term partner Scott Sinclair, the former Coronation Street actor was linked to the former boxer back in 2022, leading to speculation that she'd joined a throuple - which is a romantic or sexual relationship between three people - with Haye and his girlfriend Sian Osborne.

Haye has become known for polyamorous relationships in the past few years, with the 45-year-old previously being with both Osborne and The Saturdays singer Una Healy at the same time.

Given Haye's fondness for open relationships, it was surprising that people were curious about the nature of his and Flanagan's romance, more specifically, whether or not they were a throuple.

Thankfully this is now a rumour we can all put behind us, as Flanagan has now set the record straight.

Discussing the relationship in her new autobiography, Head and Heart, the 35-year-old explained that she was aware that Haye and Osborne had an open relationship but clarified that the dynamic wasn't for her.

"I’m not a prude, but I’ve never been into that – it was David I liked," she writes in her new book.

Flanagan went on to make it crystal clear that she only had a relationship with Haye in an interview about her memoir with MailOnline, explaining that she was only ever with the boxer on his own.

"The relationship that I had with David was just David on his own," she said. "My evenings were just spent with him, that’s what only ever happened."

Asked to clarify that this means she was never in a throuple, Flanagan added: "No, no, no, not at all."

Flanagan had first crossed paths with Haye on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2012, however their relationship didn't turn romantic until a decade later, after her split from former Bristol Rovers winger Sinclair.

However Flanagan has since clarified that she was only ever romantically involved with Haye and not his girlfriend Osborne (ITV)

She previously opened up about the impact of her relationship with Haye during an episode of Celebs Go Dating, admitting their time together was during a 'quite dark' time in her life.

"I didn’t mean to fall in love with him, but I did. We did have this amazing connection together – we were like fire," she said.

"It was weird – I think he does love his girlfriend and he loves me as well. It just brings me to a part in my life that was quite dark."

She also addressed the idea of being in a polyamorous relationship during the interview adding that 'wouldn’t have enjoyed' watching the man she was in love with have sex with another woman.
