With Isla Fisher making a brutal social media dig following her divorce being finalised, you might have been left wondering how the situation got to this point.
Well, if you’ve been living under a rock from pop culture that is.
The actor and Sacha Baron Cohen were actually separated for quite some time before we all found out, to be fair.
First meeting at a party in 2001, the pair were engaged in 2004 before marrying in 2010. Cohen and Fisher share three children and announced their split last year in a rather, well, unconventional way.

With their divorce finalised last month, the couple had ‘jointly filed’ to end their marriage in 2023, with their announcement coming fresh off the back of Rebel Wilson making some damming claims against the Borat star.
In April 2024, the actors announced they had made the filing in 2023 and this quickly lead to sleuths realising the supposed signs had been there for some time.
While Wilson was making claims that Cohen had made her feel ‘sexually harassed’, the actor’s spokesperson denied them and called them ‘demonstrably false’.

And some thought it was odd that Fisher hadn’t commented on the claims or defended Cohen - although it’s not exactly her responsibility what a man is doing.
Others noticed that in the months before the announcement, Fisher’s Instagram featured more images of her friends and family rather than with Cohen.
Plus, it began to be theorised that the star had been 'hiding' her wedding ring from most photos over the year, concealing the finger from view.
While the pair did seem to not quite literally be together as much, it’s a tricky one seeing as they’d always been quite private about their relationship.
But what wasn’t necessarily private is the somewhat strange way the pair announced they had separated.

The celebs shared a snap of themselves in tennis whites, complete with a visor and headband, as they wrote: "After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.
"We have always prioritised our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy."
With the divorce now finalised, there still isn’t much more information made public about the relationship coming to an end.
They had wrote: "Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we've achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children.

"We ask for the media to continue to respect our children's privacy."
But it seems Fisher can’t help but make some kind of dig, if not at least a dig at men in general.
She shared a quote to her Instagram Stories reading: "For all the men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?' Here's an update for you. Nowadays, 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realise it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage."
Ouch.
Wilson claimed Cohen was the ‘a**hole’ she had worked with who allegedly mistreated her on the set of The Brothers Grimsby.

In the chapter of her book, Rebel Rising, she detailed the alleged mistreatment by the star which he vehemently denied.
With her claims coming shortly before the stars announced their split last year, it led to speculation that it was in some way linked.
However, while Wilson admitted the timing ‘wasn’t great’, she told the Kyle and Jackie O Show: "I don't feel like I'm the reason [for their breakup]. But it might have just been his general treatment to women."
Sources also previously told US Weekly the split has ‘nothing to do with Rebel’s claims’.
They said: "They have been living separate lives since last year but wanted to give this space and time for their children to be OK with this before the news came out and they got all this attention."
