James Corden lands new job after leaving US chat show

It was thought Corden would be making a return to telly here in the UK

It’s here. It’s happening. He’s done it.

James Corden’s got a new job. Although it is technically still in America, it’s a move from his life on TV.

Back in April, the comedian left CBS’ The Late Late Show and it was believed that he would be returning back to the UK to live (and presumably work) in London.

The Gavin and Stacey writer explained earlier this year that he was leaving the show to spend more time with his family.

This new role is his first big project since exiting the US talk show, which he hosted for eight years.

Announcing his departure a year before, Corden said: ā€œWhen I started this journey, it was always going to be just that.

ā€œIt was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination, you know?"

And now next on his ā€˜journey’ is presenting his very own radio show.

Before any of you who have a marmite-hate for this star start complaining, it’s going to be on a US radio station.

This may come as a bit of a shock to some as Corden had previously spoke about wanting to ā€˜put some roots down in London’.

He'd told Drew Barrymore previously: ā€œBut I will know, at my core, that the best thing for me and the best thing for us as a family is to put down some roots in London, and it feels absolutely right in every single way.ā€

Corden’s new audio interview series is a deal with SiriusXM, titled This Life of Mine.

Only available for subscribers, it’s expected to premiere early next year and will feature stars discussing ā€˜the people, places, moments and memories that made them who they are today’, according to a spokesperson.

Corden said in a statement: ā€œI am thrilled to be joining SiriusXM. Scott and the whole team have made me feel so welcome as I start this new chapter.

ā€œIt’s a dream to have a space to engage in deep conversations with the people whose work and talent I greatly admire.ā€

Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM, also said: ā€œJames Corden is an incredible talent who is always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

ā€œWith a career that spans acting on stage and screen, developing and launching hit series such as Carpool Karaoke, and of course his iconic eight-year run as a late night host, James has been a trailblazer in the entertainment business.

ā€œWe’re so honoured to welcome him to the SiriusXM family as he begins this next phase of his illustrious career and makes his mark in audio.ā€
