Jennifer Aniston only just realised Reese Witherspoon’s real name after 25 years of friendship

After being pals for a quarter of a century, you'd think that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon would know each other inside out by this point.

However, it seems that the Friends star, 56, has actually still got a lot to learn about the Legally Blonde actress - starting with her real name.

The pair took part in LADbible's 'Do You Even Know Me?' quiz ahead of the return of their hit Apple TV+ series The Morning Show last Wednesday (17 September).

For those who don't know, we put celebrity friendships to the test by asking stars various trivia questions about one another.

And when Aniston and Witherspoon sat down to take part, they both realised they really ought to brush up on each other's life stories.

The pair first got pally all the way back in 2000, when Witherspoon made a guest appearance on Friends as the younger sister of Aniston's character Rachel Green.

The Hollywood stars became firm friends over the years and reunited on screen in 2019 when The Morning Show debuted.

It's now back for it's fourth series, with new episodes releasing each Wednesday.

During the 'Do You Even Know Me?' quiz, the duo answered the majority of questions about each other incorrectly, despite Witherspoon declaring she was sure they'd both knock it out of the park.

"I feel great," the Oscar-winner said. "I feel prepared. I've known this person for 25 years, how could I lose?"

Hilariously, Aniston looked a bit sheepish and burst into laughter before looking at the camera to say: "How could we lose?"

The Morning Show co-stars soon found out the answer to this.

Witherspoon read out a question that she acknowledged was 'kind of tricky', although diehard fans of hers will likely think it was an easy one.

She asked Aniston: "What is my real middle name?"

The options were Jane, Jeanne and Joan - and as Aniston appeared to have no idea, she had to take a stab in the dark.

The A-lister went for Jane, only to be left stunned when Witherspoon revealed that her middle name is actually Jeanne.

"I'm Laura Jeanne," Witherspoon said, acknowledging that it was 'confusing' for people to understand why she doesn't go by her birth name, which is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon.

In fits of giggles, Aniston said: "Laura? Who's Laura? What, who the hell's Laura? Wait, Laura Jeanne... I'm not calling you that from now on.

Aniston was left stumped when she was asked if she knew Witherspoon's real name (LADbible)

"Come on, Laura Jeanne! Where did Reese come from? What made you go with Reese for your acting name?"

Witherspoon then clarified that Reese is one of her middle names, adding: "I didn't change it, my name was just always Reese."

And seen as though the pair were getting it all out in the open, the Water for Elephants star decided to confess she didn't know Aniston's middle name was 'Joanna' either.

But Aniston shouldn't beat herself up too much, as Nicole Kidman had a similar reaction when Witherspoon revealed her real name to her during a Vanity Fair interview last year.

If you're wondering why Laura Jeanne goes by the name Reese instead, that's because it's her mother's maiden name, so the moniker everybody knows her by is actually both of the surnames of her parents combined.
