Jennifer Lawrence has explained why she gave up her dog after having children.
The Hunger Games star became a mum in 2022 when she welcomed her first son, Cy, with husband Cooke Maroney. They then had a second baby boy in late 2024.
And before her relationship even began with the art gallery director in 2018, Lawrence had adopted a Chihuahua.
Named Princess Pippi Longstocking, the actor had the dog for several years and despite parting ways with her, she’s stayed within the family.

The Die My Love actor gave a bit of an update on the pooch during promo for the psychological drama in which she stars alongside Robert Pattinson.
The subject of the canine likely came up since Die My Love stars Lawrence as a struggling new mum whose thoughtless husband (Pattinson) brings home a dog without asking her and expects her to care for it too.

Lawrence assured that the dog is ‘alive’ as she revealed that Princess Pippi now lives with her parents.
During a Q&A for the film on 7 January and captured in social media footage, Lawrence explained that her dog ‘did not like New York’.

“I lived on 1st and 67th just to be near the park for her. After I had a kid, dogs became so scary,” the 35-year-old said.
Speaking in New York City, Lawrence continued: “My son's going up to it and it's almost like I don't recognise dogs right now.
“I just see them as a threat. One of them bit my son and that just made me want to obliterate every dog ever."
She went on to joke that she’s now like: “I'm gonna take out you and your f**king family. You and your friends. I'm gonna go to China and take care of your friends over there. Anyone who looks like you is dead.”
However, while Princess Pippi is no longer living with her, the actor does have another pet, Fred, as she still has a soft spot for four-legged creatures.

“I have a cat and I feel like they're so misunderstood,” Lawrence said. “They are assholes and people who don't like that about cats are getting that that is what is so funny."
The star previously opened up about a feeling of ‘guilt’ as a mum during a Variety 'Actors on Actors' interview with Viola Davis.
“Every day of being a mom, I feel awful. I feel guilty,” she explained
“I’m playing with him and I’m like, ‘Is this what he wants to be doing? Should we be outside? We’re outside. What if he’s cold? What if he’s going to get sick? Should we be inside? Is this enough? Is this developing your brain enough?’”
