Jeremy Clarkson has found himself in a bit of an awkward moment on social media.
I mean, that’s arguably not the most surprising thing for the former Top Gear host but on this occasion, it almost seems like he’s calling himself out.
A post from the 65-year-old on X was shut down with a community note as he spoke about the price of pints.
Always a guarantee to get a Brit hammering on and complaining, the rise in the cost of beer on draught is unavoidable. Varying dramatically across different areas of the UK, the average price of a pint in Britain sits at about £4.52 (as of 2024).

But as many of us know, there’s plenty of pubs charging much more than this and some reckon it’s cutting off regular customers as Clarkson responded.

Well-documented for Clarkson’s Farm, the host opened his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, back in 2024 in Oxfordshire.
And it’s totally committed to serving British-grown produce, from the food menu to his Hawkstone beer and cider on draught and British soft drinks to complete.
A user on X had started a conversation around the topic: “Without pubs, Britain ceases to be Britain,” as they pointed out how the star had discovered the ‘desperate state’ of UK pubs.
They went on to say: “The trade lost these 'daily' customers, and replaced them with people who used the pubs for occasional use for food. The OAP's went. Then Covid taught people to drink at home. The habit was lost. £6-7 a pint works in cities, but not in the sticks.”
And Clarkson said in the replies: “I don’t think the £6.50 pint works anywhere. It’s ludicrous.”
However, a community note was added to his post to give some ‘context’ as it reads: “The cheapest price for an alcoholic pint in The Farmer’s Dog, the pub owned by Jeremy Clarkson is £6.75 according to their own menu.”
This obviously caused quite a divide as many were quick to point out that the ‘seven quid pint’ is ‘working fine’ for the star.
“Last time I was in your pub you tried to charge me £7 for a pint,” one wrote. “So you can f**k right off.”
Others called him a ‘hypocrite’ as plenty just shared screenshots of the menu at The Farmer’s Dog.
However, there was some defence for Clarkson, with one writing: “His tweet doesn’t mean he agrees with the prices set in his pub, it’s probably taxation and everything else that bolsters the price up. It probably don’t generate that much profit.”
LADbible has contacted The Farmer’s Dog for comment.
