Jordan Wright, best known for his stint on The Only Way is Essex in 2018 and Ex on the Beach in 2017, has been found dead in Thailand.

Wright, who was 33 at the time of his death, was found in a canal in Thailand after checking into a hotel alone.

Local police said the body of a British man had been discovered face down by a Burmese worker close to Bang Tao Beach in Phuket on Saturday afternoon at roughly 12.30pm. Officers stated there were no signs of an assault.

Police Chief Sutthirak Chuthong of Choeng Thale confirmed the identity of Wright in a statement to the Daily Mail, saying: "The guest was identified as Mr Jordan Wright, a British national, whom the hotel had been unable to contact. A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities."

"Hotel records showed that he had checked in alone and was due to check out on March 13, but staff reported that he never checked out.

"CCTV footage showed that he appeared restless and was moving back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area.

"His movements eventually led to the location where his body was later discovered."

The police chief said that the case remains under investigation until they receive autopsy results, also stating that CCTV footage related to the incident could not be released.

Per the Daily Mail, a Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities."

Wright first came into the public eye when he briefly dated reality TV star Vicky Pattison in 2016, with their split bitterly played out in public.

Wright later joined the cast of TOWIE, but was axed following two seasons when it was discovered he had falsely taken sick leave from his job as a firefighter.

Following his time on the series concluding, he returned to this job, also trying out DJing.

He wrote on Instagram back in 2023 that his time on reality TV left him 'hugely unfulfilled, stagnant & lost'.

He added: "People think it’s glitz & glamour but the truth is very far from public perception, I really struggled."

Earlier this year, the former TOWIE star had posted about how he had 'moved to Thailand and was chasing the sunrise' on Instagram, with his latest post showing him back in Thailand with a caption saying: "I'm Home."

In another post he said he had moved to the country for a 'fresh start'.

Tributes have began pouring in for the former reality TV star, with close friend and DJ Stuart Hart saying: "Jordan was a really lovely boy, always happy and fun to be around, always supportive, whether it was coming to my gigs or DJing at my parties, he was always up for a good time.

"One of the good ones."

Fans on social media have also been quick to pay tribute to the young man after his death, with multiple comments on his final Instagram.

One said: "Rest in peace Jordan."

Another commented: "Such a lovely person gone far too soon. Rest peacefully Jordan."
