Kate Beckinsale has made the bizarre claim that her daughter's boyfriend 'laid two eggs in one week'.

Yes, really.

Earlier this week the 52-year-old actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to promote her latest film, an action thriller named Wildcat.

However film fans will be disappointed to learn that Beckinsale did not share much about the upcoming James Nunn directed flick during her interview, instead choosing to share a very personal and somewhat unbelievable story about her daughter Lily Mo Sheen's boyfriend.

The story being that this unnamed man had somehow defied the laws of science and nature and 'birthed' two eggs which appeared to have been 'cooked inside him'.

Describing her daughter's partner as a a 'bright spot' the their lives after a difficult few years, Beckinsale made the extraordinary claim that that he'd 'laid two eggs in a week'.

Shell, yolk and all apparently.

And no, apparently this isn't a euphemism for anything.

When asked by a bemused Kimmel to clarify the claim, the Van Helsing actor replied: "It came out the route it would come out of a hen. Well, not his vagina. He went to the bathroom and was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg."

Beckinsale goes on to explain that she too had been doubtful of the claim but acknowledged the man had been 'genuinely scared' by the fact that an egg had popped out of him.

"I said to him, 'Is this some kind of attention-seeking? Are you putting eggs up your bottom?" she recalled. "But I think it’s quite hard to put an egg up your bottom and then get it out whole without injuring the egg."

The baffling tale wasn't over there either, as Beckinsale revealed he would 'birth' a second egg later in the week and this time had photographic proof of the ordeal.

She then showed the images to Kimmel, who was completely blown away by what he saw.

"What in the world..." he says, adding: "Your daughter's boyfriend is the Easter Bunny, there's no other way to explain this!"

If the above story isn't weird enough for you, Beckinsale went on to add that her family had contacted various medical professionals about the boyfriend's 'issue' and were still left without answers.

"All of them basically said it was some sort of complicated masturbation thing," she said of the doctor's suggestions. "Which it wasn’t."

So if any of you out there have any suggestions about how this gentleman has birthed a couple of eggs, I'm sure the Beckinsale family would love to know,
