Fans spot 'huge problem' Kim Kardashian suffered with dress on way back from Met Gala

She appears to have had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction...

Fans think they've spotted a major issue with Kim Kardashian's dress after footage emerged of her returning to the Ritz-Carlton hotel after the Met Gala. Take a look below:

Outfits from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Met Gala often hit the headlines and of course, people have a lot to say about Kim Kardashian's ensemble from last night's event.

The theme for last night's event was 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' with a dress code of 'The Garden of Time', inspired by a dystopian story by JG Ballard, which sees the rich shelter in a garden as a crowd of the poor and needy draw ever closer.

For the prestigious Gala, the Kardashians star wore a custom Margiela by John Galliano dress featuring a strapless silver corset and fitted floor-length silhouette made from a delicate silver leaf mesh.

The look was topped off with a grey shrug-style cardigan.

Following the event, many took to social media to express their concern over Kim's outfit, particularly the brocade corset that made her waist so small it made them feel 'uncomfortable.'

Corset maker Brian De Carvalho spoke to The Standard and said of Kim's dress: "It looks to be fully boned, so you wouldn’t be able to take full breaths or to bend or hunch over for sure.

"It feels like someone is giving you a really tight hug, and they're squeezing you for the whole night. It’s not painful, per se, but when you breathe you don’t feel like you can push your chest all the way out."

Now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a 'huge problem' with her dress.

In a now-viral TikTok video from behind the scenes, we see Kim getting out of a taxi as she returns to her hotel after the event.

The star uses a long white trench coat to cover her outfit and holds her chest as she walks past a group of paparazzi.

This had led people to believe that she'd suffered a wardrobe malfunction at some point in the evening.

One person wrote in the comment section: "She ripped the side of the dress wow," as another said: "They are going to make this wardrobe malfunction a four-episode drama."

And a third commented: "I don't think anyone understands just how painful her dress is."

Others joked that they would never put their bodies through all of that in the name of fashion, with one user writing: "I would have changed to sweats in the van," as another quipped: "Ya probably a collapsed lung and a few broken ribs."

But jokes aside, in the Victorian era, women were so tightly laced into their corsets that they often suffered serious internal injuries.

Over a long period of time, their rib cages would become deformed, their digestive tracts suffered and their back muscles atrophied through disuse.

Fainting due to reduced lung capacity was also common amongst corset wearers.

Research by anthropologist Rebecca Gibson found deformed ribs pushed into an 'S' shape and vertebral spins misaligned from the typical vertical position.

We can only hope that Kim doesn't plan on making corsets part of her signature style.
